I agree that it's bad policy but why is it bad politics? Forgiving 10K in debt is one of the few student loan forgiveness policies that have majority approval.

It's close. Americans generally like free things, but then they're likely to turn around and blame you for the resulting inflation. The administration seems to be banking on inflation receding by 2024, which would let them leverage a compliant media to tout the latest spending program as an inflation buster. Whether or not that works is probably a matter of luck.

The EBT card that has kept you alive your whole life is funded largely by people you hate. Show some respect, boy.

You do realize Republican states are the biggest recipient of government assistance....right? I guess you didn't realize that based on your EBT comment lmao.

The vast majority of thr U.S. GDP comes from liberal cities and states.

Sounds like a lot of folks calling a sow's ear... a silk purse.
It's been a while, but 10K won't cover the books for 4 years, but it will increase inflation.

Rudimentary economics principle; people having more disposable income means there is a capacity for money to move because consumption increases

my understanding is that the current inflation issue is because of too much money flowing?

I don't think it actually is bad politics in the current situation, but I can easily see why it could be: this is a selective, injust handout to a comparatively privileged group - it is surely within the realm of possibility that the number of people pissed off by this policy could be greater than the number of beneficiaries.

I wouldn't put too much stock in polls on an issue like this one either. All "free stuff"-policies poll better in the abstract than after they're implemented.

you... you don't even realise it, do you? and no, i don't mean that it's "unjust" - i mean a policy that your little hack attempt perfectly describes? think of an ACTUALLY privileged group that received a massive handout by a president somewhat recently, something that SHOULD have pissed off the vast majority of people.

the main reason for inflation now is energy, secondary reasons being labor and housing

classical economics will tell you that you cant accumulate debt and print money forever, at some point there is too much money chasing too few goods and the result is inflation

people like to blame whoever is in power currently or as the aftermath of whoever was in power... which is a lazy and ignorant take
