well, when USA decided to go to offensive war, not many countries followed them. The countries were simply not obliged to do so. NATO is a defensive alliance.

Ah so you think it's not a big deal, well go to Russia and tell them they should pull out because you would like Sevastopol for EU so you can park your own warships there, right next door to Russia nice and convenient.

before the Russian attack, there were no foreign NATO bases in Poland or other eastern NATO countries, for the sake of good relations. Only polish troops, with some rotary foreign guests for exercises.
So I sincerely doubt that any NATO fleet could be parked in Sevastopol, with an except of Ukraine fleet of course.
As we know for Russia it wasnt enough, they asked for more.
Thats how they often do, they simply keep asking for more and more, over and over. You offer them a finger, they ask for a whole arm.
People in the western world aint militaristic, they just want a happy life and dont have ambitions to conquest other countries, lol.

Why would you park warships in the Black Sea? That doesn't make any sense if you want to project power because the Black Sea is effectively a lake where Turkey calls the shots on who comes in and out.

That's not really applicable anymore with the advent of nuclear armed submarines. Russia could have nukes 30 miles off the coast of Washington, New York, etc. and we wouldn't know about it until it's too late.

That would be much more preferable than having nuclear armed submarines floating around undetected. We would be able to monitor the silos at all times and be able to respond appropriately. Seriously, you need to update your calculus to account for newer technologies (nuclear armed submarines, stealth bombers, hypersonic missiles, etc.)

What I'm saying isn't controversial to anyone who works in national security.
