Ive always been a bit confused why people find the idea of tunnels and the hyperloop so bad. they're proposed in cities where people sit in traffic for 3 hours a day just to travel a few miles.
i feel like the first generation went poorly and people pounced, or they see the fact that elon owns the tunnel digging business and assume its purely him lining his pockets.
i'm aware of some of the engineering issues they currently have, just dont get the hate for the idea itself.
The hyper loop is about a 100 years old as a concept and will never be economically viable.. It's literally just worse trains. One leak and the whole thing is shut down and potentially kills everybody on board.
The tunnels are just worse subways.. They don't solve any issues choose that an underground tram doesn't solve better.
In theory you might get them to work but they are hundreds of times riskier than a train in the events of failure and thousands of times more expensive.
They are the reason why it's a meme that Elon Musk is so smart he keeps inventing worse trains
