Surely, if those groups can overcome obstacles like that, then something like segregation and redlining that ended over 50 years ago can be overcome? Unless of course, there's something consistently wrong that prolongs underperformance well past time period that can be considered reasonable.

Because they specifically pulled demographic data and chose voting locations and IDs specifically based on the demographics that utilize them the most.

A bill doesn't need to say "black" or African American" to target blacks or African Americans.

It doesn't specifically affect them, but they went out of their way to craft a bill that would disenfranchise black people specifically by targeting resources used by that demographic specifically.

The issue isn't specifically voter ID laws. The issue is that when voter ID laws are implemented, they are implemented in such a way as to make it harder for *certain* segments of the population to vote.

Like the one that was literally struck down for that specific reason that we've been talking about.
