Was reading the Tonga volcano eruption was ~10-30 megatons. A single Tsar Bomba was 50 megatons in contrast.

The nukes on Japan were shit compared to what even NK has today. And yeah, lots of atmospheric tests were done over the decades, but at most 1-5 a year afaik. Certainly nothing approaching thousands. That's like the difference between Mt St Helens and Yellowstone.

That's amazing wish I'd seen it before. Obviously I was way off on yearly tests lol but I think you'd agree no year or even decade of tests compare to the magnitude of a global nuclear war.

edit: also want to note there's been very few atmospheric tests since the treaty in the 60's. The lions share of those blips were all underground and didn't kick up much debris.
