Too many Americans support police not being able to be persecuted for their crimes.
Nothing can change as long as people are deepthroating the boot.
And here's the real issue. BLM and other bleeding hearts would be so eager to pillory the police and find another cop for a blood sacrifice dressed up a show trial, that they'd ignore the actual institutional failure that led us here.
What did the
police do wrong here? What did the actual officers at the scene do to cause this? Did they take any illegal actions, or not follow protocols?
They served a no-knock warrant according to the judicial instructions and even carried out Mayor Frey's order on no-knock warrants to its literal word.
The officer who opened fire only did so when his life and his fellows lives were in immediate danger, a split second decision in response to a gun being drawn. A "shoot or get shot" moment.
What happened here is an example of why no-knock search warrants shouldn't exist in the first place. The issue isn't the police who served it, its the court that ordered it, the judicial system that allowed it, the laws that valued
evidence over
lives. The no-knock search warrant is what created the circumstances of the high risk scenario and put a sleeping person and police into mutual deadly peril. Fulfilling the warrant as ordered meant putting officers at unnecessary risk of a deadly confrontation that could have killed any of the involved parties, but most of the risk obviously on the residents, especially someone like this guy in a compromised position with no time to react.
I wonder if this same time a year from now we'll be hearing about the jury being picked in the trial of Officer Whipping Boy while the politicians and bureaucrats who created this system face no accountability and no more than another token feel-good fig leaf is thrown over the no-knock warrants. Shame the mob can't get out on the streets right now in temperatures so low it nearly killed the honduran soccer team, or they'd be able to doxx the officer who pulled the trigger and threatening his wife and children. Meanwhile Mayor Frey
already got reelected on proudly taking credit for banning no-knock warrants.
