Trump wasn't blamed for stimulus checks, and Biden isn't being blamed either.
Voters blame Biden for the economic fall-out of Covid-19. It's intuitive, Democrats are the pro-lockdown party. Biden is also being blamed for his response to inflation. Voters are concerned about rising prices, and Biden's response has been to downplay inflation fears and advocate $4-5 trillion in net new spending (BBB). Voters are unimpressed. The Democratic moderates have the right of it. Biden was elected to be "normal", and his administration is governing far to the left of the American center. His priorities reflect the priorities of the wealthy coastal whites who now dominate the Democratic party. Hispanic support is collapsing. The rustbelt is gone. Florida and Ohio are not coming back into play, and Democrats are losing support in the suburbs that is critical to 2022 and beyond. Stelter and the Democratic media corps fundamentally misunderstand what's going on.
You're ridiculous. The BBB is massively popular even in the states of the people holding up the bill (Manchin and Sinema). Democratic "moderates" are right wing corporatist goons actively undermining the will of the electorate. This is not hyperbole in the slightest. In Manchin's case it's because his family business directly benefits from it, and in Sinema's case she's gotten over a million dollars from pharma for the direct purpose of killing drug price negotiation. Republicans are even talking about explicitly not running against them because of how in-line with their politics Manchin and Sinema have been.
His priorities are directly in line with the American center and you are being a hack.
