Not that surprising. Many 3rd world countries have odd laws.

NZ is a first world country, like the rest of the commonwealth.
What is odd about trying to limit social harm?

because there's much more concerning issues with people dying then second hand smoke. Like alcohol and fast food.

especially when smoking has been going down in usage for years already on its own.

Watch the person closest to you in the world die after a 2 year fight with lung cancer then tell me that.

I disagree, i think its fantastic.

On one level I think this is fantastic since I hate smokers anyway. On the other it's not my business what others choose to ingegest/inhale into their system. Although smoking is falling out of fashion so probably no one is going to care anyway.

I took care of my father for years as he slowly degraded into a wrinkly bag of bones after he made the conscious decision to drink in his chair until he died. As soon as he was too weak to lift anything to his mouth to drink, he seized out and died right there, between the time I cleaned him the night before and that morning. The most horrible, disgusting way of life i have ever witnessed, and easily the shittiest thing I have ever lived through, and that is saying A LOT.

I would still not advocate for liquor to be straight up outlawed.
