meh, it would give you a nominal raise, but not a real one. or only very marginally, depending on how much of your income goes to consumption vs savings.

whole thread is a joke. lawmakers are proposing to put it to voters to allow a 6 month training wage. the idea they arent listening to voters when asking voters to vote is pretty comical.

Federal minimum wage hasn't been touched since Bush, there was still inflation... almost like prices aren't dictated by a minimum wage.

Exactly, and I agree.

I know that min wage is not the solution to the wage gaps.

But I am honestly confused if republicans even care.
From the numbers and the way that republicans vote (and democrats)
It's clear they want to narrow the wage gap. This is one of the rare issues (on paper at least) that both parties agree on.
My opinion is that the 2 parties disagree on how to go about that.
Thats my takeaway. Were too busy fighting ourselves we can't unite to beat the politicians.
They are manipulating the American people. Democrats and republicans are guilty of this.
No party is innocent.
Sadly, I fear that we thrive not off love but off hate and fear.
We will always find a reason to hate someone. There are not enough humble people.
You don't have to be smart to manipulate someone; merely confident.

sure, but a certain fraction of the raise would be eaten up by inflation. raise in nominal salary != raise of actual purchasing power.
as a general rule of thumb, inflation is rough for poor people who have to spend almost all of their income on consumption while it barely touches the rich who derive most of their income from capital gains rather than wages. the upper middle class usually falls somewhere in between.

They don't believe in the will of the people, so they are trying to find some loophole to appease corporate interests and lessen the blow of implementing the raised minimum wage.
