Can someone elaborate me what the concept voter id means? Isn't ID required when voting anywhere in the world?
The USA wants to be like China now with their IDs??

15 states have no ID requirement to vote, 13 states have a non-photo ID requirement (for example, a utility bill - to confirm residency).

Vaccine passports in NYC disproportionately effect black citizens by a wide margin. and are yet championed by the left. so i have stopped taking tiny fractions of differences on access to State IDs among black citizens seriously when they come from leftist politicians.

my stance has and will remain unchanged. if the state requires X# of things to have an ID (Driving, show to purchase alcohol, guns, tobacco, etc) then they should provide them at no charge and minimal inconvenience. In the modern day that means with layers of verification even citizens who cant leave home should be able to get an ID with a photo they send in.

free ids, ids to vote, done deal.

Look at the recall election in California for Gavin new some

I read a lot of theories or claims, but nothing proven.
There has yet to be voter fraud in any number which would effect any election so far.
Are you a "the election was stolen" guy?

That being said.. I'm ok with voter ID, but we need a bit for everyone to get into the system.
AND I don't know why we cannot expand walk in vote time frames, longer time for drop boxes, mail in voting has been going on forever and has proven to work.
there is no need to have same day votes..
and I'm pretty sure we wouldn't need the debate of "can people give water or not" if you just don't make people wait in line for hours and hours.

The left didnt request data for the purpose of excluding the kinds of IDs that minorities are likely to use though.

Malicious intent isn't always more nefarious than neglectful action.

In this case the right's actions are likely worse, even if the resulting situation is likely more benign. A very hearty chunk of black new yorkers are facing a reality more in line with the hyperbolic "vaccine passport" cries the q anon right wingers have been calling for. most of those idiots have cried about stuff that's basically in line with historical public school vaccine requirements and passport travel vaccine requirements. New York tho is more extreme in a setting where many people dont drive, dont have cars, dont have many options other than to overpay for delivery of all good basically forever. i dont see this getting rolled back for years.

Also, you can get vaccinated for free and thereby get your vaccination card for free

correct, you can get a vaccine, paid for by the state, with US taxpayer money, without a valid photo ID.

and i'm more in favor of illegal aliens getting free vaccines than i am of people voting without an ID.

99% of the "issue" of voter ID is tech related and a result of the dwindling DMV access due to an increased number of its functions being moved online. this "problem" would take a google team about 2 days to fix and give citizens nationwide and even abroad access to an app that could fix the entire issue. verification shouldnt even be an issue, this situation is laughable. unverified voters should be as embarrassing for Americans as our healthcare system is or our disproportionate gun related deaths as a first world nation. and yet its been politicized to the same degree as the others so that people think its an unsolvable situation in one wing, and a quick fix 1 page law to republicans. when in reality its in the middle, solvable, but should be fixed with care taken.

I support voter IDs but what do you think the next excuse is for the right? Currently, absentee ballots aren't secure. Drop off stations aren't secure. Early voting is too costly. What's next?

honestly a few years back i said fighting abortion just made the righties look dumb because it was a fruitless battle that made them look dated. i'm tempted to say fighting mail in ballots is the same thing, but given some of the state level regression we're seeing i dont really know.

but im also not a fan of slippery slope arguments against small actions, its kept common sense gun control out of the scope of legislation and been an excuse for the NRA to exist in it's lobbying context for decades. do what makes sense, if someone asks for more sobeit.
