If you were even as aware as I am, then you would be aware that Nazi scientists could have had the atom bomb ready by the time the allies landed at Normandy - if Hitler had actually put his racist drivel aside and told the jews (Who were ironically some of his best scientists) to complete it. And given the ingenuity of German science at the time, it is very likely that they would have also thought to create tactical nuclear weapons as well (more useful in smaller scale warfare where only killing a few thousand would be required.)

What even is your retort to this? Aside from baselessly claiming to be more aware than I am?

No, they couldn't, because the main thrust of their research was towards a means of producing plutonium that was technically unfeasible. See the allied operation to destroy the Norwegian heavy water production facilities in Operation Gunnerside. Your initial claim though, is that the US NEEDED German scientists to COMPLETE the Manhattan Project. This is demonstrably false.

That's actually a pretty fair argument - you could say that their research was leading them in the wrong direction, but who is to say that they wouldn't have inevitably stumbled into creating the first plutonium based bomb? Just because the Americans relied on Uranium for theirs, doesn't mean that the Nazis could not have figured it out.

Did I ever claim that the US needed the Germans to complete the bomb? Was that earlier in this thread many months ago or something, because I don't remember that - and wouldn't currently claim that now. Obviously the Americans would have inevitably completed an atom bomb as well - it just would have taken more time if they didn't have Nazi turn coats letting them cheat off of their notes.

I read the part you boldened and assumed you were quoting what I had just wrote, since the context was largely similar. I completely forgot that I even posted in this thread - literally months ago lmfao.

I stand by my point that the Americans purchased help from the Germans to complete the bomb. Nothing in that statement implies that America would not have eventually had the atom bomb, it says that they likely would not have had it in time to use it on Japan before land invasion resulted in massive casualties.
