That's actually a pretty fair argument - you could say that their research was leading them in the wrong direction, but who is to say that they wouldn't have inevitably stumbled into creating the first plutonium based bomb? Just because the Americans relied on Uranium for theirs, doesn't mean that the Nazis could not have figured it out.
Did I ever claim that the US needed the Germans to complete the bomb? Was that earlier in this thread many months ago or something, because I don't remember that - and wouldn't currently claim that now. Obviously the Americans would have inevitably completed an atom bomb as well - it just would have taken more time if they didn't have Nazi turn coats letting them cheat off of their notes.
