Fear sells, pitbull is just the flavor of the day right now. Pseudo scientists aggregated a bunch of breed based behavior statistics, and found Pitbull scored one of the highest for interactions with humans and their own pack. They got lower marks for interactions with third party dogs or packs. Google it.

License and training would go a looong way. Adoption agencies require way more than Breeders in regards to vetting, training, ensuring animals aren't abused. Breeders are awful, part of the root problem with 'bad' dogs and owners.

i say it again, pitbulls etc are for scumbags or people with low self esteem and having a dangerous dog empowers them

personally i was going to get a german shepherd puppy but i had just graduated at the time and didn't think working 8 hours a day and leaving a puppy at home alone would be good for the dog so i got a bengal cat instead

I worked with my dog since puppy to not be aggressive or protective of his food/ treats. Most people never do this training. And boy can it matter

A breed that has the highest capacity to inflict damage when brought up in bad conditions is gonna statistically be the worse offender for attacks.

As a general rule of thumb you treat every dog you don't know as a threat and owners of dogs like these should be held criminally liable.
