Oh, I wasnt referring to minor scandals or the typical, everyday corruption. When I said error-prone, I was thinking about strategic political errors. Like shutting down Germany's nuclear power plants in a panic because an earthquake-triggered tsunami had caused nuclear havoc on the other side of the planet, and then wondering a couple of years later why Germany (neither at risk of earthquakes nor tsunamis) has the highest consumer energy prices in the world and a worse carbon record than its European neighbors despite funneling more government subsidies into decarbonization...

When we're talking corruption scandals, two officials from the CDU were forced to step down last week after they were caught personally enrichting themselves on mask deals during the pandemic.
But yes, I gotta admit that I'm way out of my depth when it comes to Dutch politics.

apparently not exclusively when it comes to dutch politics. your claim is quite literal fake news. does akw mülheim-kärlich ring a bell? do you know about the geology of neckarwestheim (where you have repeated sinkholes due to porous layers of gypsum and limestone, even without any earthquakes)? have you read the expert reports concerning earthquake / terrorism / cyber safety of german nuclear power plants before spreading your simplistic propaganda?

just to be clear, i don't think it was wise to abandon nuclear energy so abruptly, and many of our neighbours have significantly worse safety standards and locations for their plants, but you clearly don't have (or don't care about) the full picture, and only regurgitate the brainless propaganda of pro nuclear energy populists...

That's a ridiculous misrepresentation of the geological facts. A magnitude 9.1 earthquake like in Japan 2011, or anything even remotely close to this magnitude, is literally impossible in Western Europe. As is a massive tsunami. I never claimed that nuclear energy doesnt come with significant risks, I only said that the types of risks which led to the meltdown in Fukushima are non-factors in our country... and that it thus was foolish to base strategic decisions with huge long-term ramifications on the events in Japan which were objectively irrelevant for the situation in Europe.

you literally claimed that germany was not at risk of earthquakes, even though that is not only factually incorrect, but also has been the very reason for shutting down a german nuclear power plant long before fukushima ever happened. now dishonestly moving the goalpost to "w-w-well i only meant 9.1 earthquakes or worse", when experts have repeatedly and specifically warned of earthquakes (and other geological factors, see neckarwestheim) regarding german nuclear power plants, is pathetic face-saving at best, and shitty propaganda either way.

you claiming it's "objectively irrelevant" is a blatant lie, that you can only "justify" by making the mental gymnastics of suggesting that anything short of an earthquake of that magnitude in combination with a tsunami could not possibly lead to a nuclear accident of devastating proportions, which is ridiculous.

Yeah those people weren't that peaceful. At that point they had been asked to leave for more than an hour and the gathering had been deemed unlawful (due to the amount if people in close proximity). I'm fine with these antivax retards getting the stick instead of the carrot.

'b-b-but that's police brutality! those people are just exercising free speech!' said the very intelligent person (who previously repeatedly supported the violent crackdown on peaceful protesters demonstrating against police brutality and racial discrimination), clutching their pearls in sympathy for his fellow science deniers.

You're obviously confusing me with someone else, dumbass.

You're okay with pushing pedestrians in front of moving cars? Beating people with clubs, instead of simply cuffing them and hauling them away?

The police has already apologized for hitting the lady with the van, it was not on purpose. I'm ok with beating them when they are throwing fireworks at the cops and the protesters even had a fighting dog attack an officer.

We've had several of these antivax/anticovid measures protests turn out fine. When distance is kept and things are peaceful, the police is not going to intervene.
