Wow, sure are a lot of people who aren't brave enough to answer the question.

Self-driving cars will be commonplace eventually. They will cause less accidents than human-driven cars. They will need to make determinations in scenarios such as these, even if you find this specific scenario unrealistic or oversimplified. And humans will have to decide how they're programmed to act.

I'm indifferent to which it chooses. That's my answer.

That's a fine answer. The fun part is finding scenarios where you strongly disagree with people and trying to figure out why.

So they just gonna be running over people all the time when shit breaks down in them? Shit never breaks down in cars so that's good.

Obviously both answers are false and the cars computers need to be scanning the area for other places to go. And people are going to be losing their jobs in any case for not keeping the breaks in check. "Kill this person or kill that other person." Isnt a valuable question unless you're a murderer.

I'll use the cheap cop-out and point to the logic error in this particular scenario:

if the car has enough time and maneuverability to be able to hit the child on the left or the old man on the right, then it can also aim for the traffic lights/island in the middle, trying to slip through between the two pedestrians.

ITT: People confirm stereotypes about male Internet degenerates by being dully rigid in their thinking.

Dark episode on my city.

I was just a few blocks away when it happened :(

Did you know the zoo is in the middle of the ghetto in Cincinnati? You might get mugged if you park on the street lol.
