it was the first election i was old enough to vote in tbh. i wanted to in 2006 but wasnt 18 yet

and yeah being where i was at the time it was Obama mania. he was a legit rockstar in 2008. i knew the magnitude of him being elected was going to be important but i really didn’t appreciate it until years later as much as i disagree with some of his admin’s policy

i had no money at the time being in undergrad and the recession in full swing otherwise i would have bet every last cent on Obama winning. it was like betting on Michael Jordan in the finals lmao

Normally, there would be a big food spread and a lot of media crammed into a small space to watch the voting, Tom Tillotson, town moderator in Dixville Notch, said last week. But that's no longer possible because of the coronavirus pandemic. It's also hard to observe the 60th anniversary of the tradition, which started in November 1960.

“Sixty years — and unfortunately, we can't celebrate it," he said.
