i started just before 4th edition came out, i think. fallen empires was out, thats what i started with. i have a few 3rd edition cards, but mostly cards from after that through the urza block when i stopped. i had an unbeatable landbreaker deck so people in high school stopped wanting to play against me. i tried getting into it again in college but by then cards had become way overpowered compared to earlier cards and even my land breaker deck couldnt compete. wasnt gonna spend tons on buying new cards so i stopped. still have all my cards, including a few very rare ones that are probably worth a lot.

landbreaker decks work really well against a "good" deck but a simple goblin deck can just overrun them. one of the fun parts of magic is how weird decks interact with each other.

nah. i played a few times but taking weeks to paint figures to set up for a 6 hour battle wasnt my thing at age 13-18, 20 min magic games were.

as an adult tho it intrigues me, massive tabletop battle games, i just dont have the time for a game let alone all the painting and prep.
