So much of it is obvious bullshit. I sit in vote counting rooms every election season because I have a personal stake in the vote counts. It's how I make bonuses on contracts. This person just made up a bunch of shit that they thought sounded plausible, but almost none of it actually is.

Obama actively tried to give states money so they could enhance election security ahead of the 2016 election, but it was shut down by Republicans.

We desperately need to update our infrastructure, there was a John Oliver story several years ago about how you could take the faces off voting booths in some states and reveal naked USB ports, and how they had to be routinely plugged into the internet to get updates, but either didn't have security or were way behind on their security updates.

So yeah.... IMO it wouldn't be controversial among the people, but there's almost a rule in America that if something is common sense and would cost less than the clear benefit then nobody will want to do it.

Not hard at all to imagine a scenario where someone is allowed to vote in person because his mail ballot hasnt been registered/tabulated yet because of administrative hiccups, but then his mail ballot also pops up somewhere in the days after the election.




Regarding investment into election security or establishing a common standard all states have to meet, supervised by the federal government: I would assume that the main resistance against any of that has historically come from the South.
