When somebody wears a pink bracelet supporting breast cancer patients does it make you feel like they don't also care about lung cancer patients? How about when somebody tries to raise money for breast cancer research? I'd imagine not.

BLM is the same thing. When you say "Black Lives Matter" it's not saying "black lives are the only ones that matter". If you counter "black lives matter" with "all lives matter", you're doing the equivalent of telling a a breast cancer supporter "ALL CANCER MATTERS! WHY ARE YOU WEARING A BREAST CANCER BRACELET!?!?"

Your analogy is on-point, and this is exactly what I like about the concept of BLM. Even if the subsequent conversations are not entirely productive, the people who are triggered by the name and concept can't help but identify themselves.

And when they get triggered and make themselves known it's a good time to learn. If they are willing to listen and learn about the movement that's great, and if they aren't they were never going to be on board with BLMs goals in the first place.

I never defended that cop in any thread, feel free to search my posts.

What I said is literally that: The man got arrested because he was a lifetime criminal. He got arrested this time because he was shifting fake bills.

He was not a saint and didn't get arrested because he was black. Pretty hard for you to get that huh

Oh ? You are saying he was no saint... And ?

Yeah thats pretty clear it's the only thing you can say, and you will quietly avoid the question of brutality.

You are well aware what the real version is. The life long (and intoxicated) criminal got arrested and was restrained by a cop, criminal died and cop is an idiot for holding him down for so long.

If the cop was black we wouldn't have had a story and you fucking know it.

Can't say all lives matter without saying black lives matter. Its basic math.

Exactly, so then why do people have a problem with it. 🤷‍♂️

When a debate ends like this i fear for future generations 8-(

Your only argument is "but his race didn't matter".

You're not acknowledging the socio-economic difference between the average white and black male and the prejudice and racial bias that exists towards people of colour.

Are you looking to stick your head in the sand regarding your viewpoints, and pretend like you're open to learn and listen to other people's perspectives or are you actually looking to grow and understand why people are protesting for BLM?

Eventually enough articles, hearsay , what have you just bombard you with information that tilts you one direction to the point where you find yourself in your situation where you may have agreed with something, such as the mistreatment of Floyd and the message his mistreatment is conveying, but in this case but you disagree with how the message of BLM is being carried out. You're being influenced by the bombardment of extremist media and views which naturally feels like an attack on yourself and you being to tilt in one direction, you initially agreed but now you're sitting there saying "fuck these guys are nuts, please just say all lives matter so i don't feel like im being attacked in the mean time since I am a good person to people"

I don't think that makes you racist, you just need to turn off your media sources and continue to be a good human being to the people around you. Don't let the loudest voice in the room tilt you off your initial views.

I think this explains how i feel pretty well...
Strange times we live in.

You can agree with the message and not agree with how things are being carried out.

Its like when people say "you have to do this to fix world hunger" and you say, no I don't think that's necessary the solution and they say" well how do you do it". You say you don't know, just like you don't know how to eliminate all the disparities between races. If they say "see you don't know" and they think that just some how validated that their solution are the only correct one, it does not make them correct, its just their solution and that is free to be disagreed upon without being labeled a racist.

A culture where group think eliminates debate or squashes minority voices because they don't agree seems to be a new trend. I am not saying this just in relation to current events , its more prevalent than ever with social media making group think easy. You don't have time to digest information before the next opinion is thrown in your face.
