The Nazis' rise to power was fueled on the Great Depression.

Yeah, let's turn a really complex issue into a simple statement and ignore treaty of versailles, nationalist tendencies of germans, recent imperial past, league of nations, and becoming allies with racist, militaristic japan...

So.... when I accuse you of groupthink you compare me to a Nazi.

....

I think you should do some reflection.

Only read the first page of this thread, some quick thoughts:

- Charles Lindbergh was a nazi-sympathizer and a piece of shit
- since the 1920s, isolationism was a strong sentiment in American society and politics, and Republicans were its primary political representative
- the fact that isolationist "stay out of the war"-sentiment played into the hands of the axis powers does not imply that conservatives/Republicans were sympathizing with their cause or ideology
- neither does some antisemitism. you have to keep in mind that back in the day, racism, antisemitism and so on were much more prevalent and socially accepted than they are today. for example, FDR's Democrats were still the party of Jim Crow in this era
- FDR was no saint. his assertiveness bordered on authoritarianism. during his presidency, he repeatedly tried to disempower Congress and the Supreme Court.

Regarding the claim that "it's always conservatives fucking things up and leaving a mess for liberals to clean up": this notion is not tenable in its claim to exclusivity. For example, Democrats were in charge and fucked up the Korean and the Vietnam war, and their Republican successors had to clean these conflicts up.

Germany invaded poland because of the depression? We learned in history that the treaty of Versailles was the major driver

War only happens when people are in dire poverty. Hitler would have never been elected in Germany without FDR and Keynes’ clueless economic egotism spuring worldwide poverty.

FDR extended the fucking depression ten years long because he thought deficit spending was a great idea. The crash of the early 20’s was worse than the one in 29. Coolidge actually knew how to handle it though.

Coolidge had the economy fully functional within a year.

You keep repeating trash that everybody knows is false. There's a reason nobody responds when you post these, because they're easily debunked talking points along the lines of "the Irish were treated worse than black people".
