trump didn't 'prosecute a crime' though, he withheld congressionally sanctioned military aid to an ally in order to get dirt on his political opponent. no amount of #alternative facts will be able to spin that crime into a 'normal act of government'. you won't fool anyone else, so i suggest you stop fooling yourself, buddy. it's rather embarrassing - there really is no need for you to keep jumping through those hoops in public...

of course it was pulled before, that's the whole point - and it's not the first time trump leveraged military aid to an ukrainian government to extort personal favours: he pulled the same stunt with the previous government to stop them from cooperating with mueller's probe into manafort's ukraine dealings (so much for trump's 'genuine concern about corruption in ukraine' btw).

also, while we don't know with certainty when exactly zelensky became aware that the aid had actually been put on hold (it might indeed have been after the call - although it's very much possible he already knew at the time since yermak already knew through sondland), but he most certainly was aware that they did NOT receive it yet - nor had he gotten the previously promised WH invitation. through the impeachment hearings we also learned that ukraine inquired about the aid the very day of that phone call.
their intimate knowledge of the exact political process and technicalities required for trump to actually withhold it is not at all necessary to establish a perceived threat of the aid being contingent upon a public announcement of investigations into biden and the debunked crowdstrike conspiracy. this is further supported by the fact that zelensky immediately canceled his scheduled cnn interview with fareed zakaria, in which he was supposed to announce those investigations, after the scandal became public, and trump had to release the aid.

again, all those simplistic talking points trying to downplay trump's crooked and criminal behaviour, simply don't hold up to established FACTS, and are only a superficial 'defence' for those who just don't WANT it to be true, and therefore refuse to look into the details.

I remember when bogie was one of the top 5 posters here, and he always delivered high quality posts. I miss those days.

Nowadays it's just everyone flaming everyone else. It's like a battlefield in here. It's very sad, really. The moderators need to start giving everyone 10% warn for each flame, no matter how minor it is.

People need to learn to be respectful of others' opinions. We have to understand that each person is unique not only in his physical attributes but also mental. Each person has a different, unique opinion on religion, politics, and whatnot. We all were born with zero knowledge; why are we so arrogant and sure that we know it all and are absolutely right in everything we believe in?

I'm pretty dead myself. Although, the sense I get is that increasingly posts in PaRD devolve less into content and more into character. At times, entering a thread that's been going on for some time in order to catch up becomes less an exercise on figuring out what is being talked about, and more figuring out who.
