Don’t deflect. Simply put:

1. Do you believe life begins at conception?

If yes,

2. Do you believe abortion in your ideal climate should be criminalized in some regard?

If yes,

3. Do you believe smoking/drinking/druguse during pregnancy should be criminalized in some regard?

If no,

Why not?

I think its a form of cruelty/abuse whether or not you plan on having an abortion. I wouldn't criminalize it necessarily but id support laws putting the mother on the hook for covering lifong medical costs for the child and any illnesses attributable to her habits during pregnancy that are known to cause birtj defects

But I dont see how that path is beneficial to society. Its just better to not poison the culture in the first place

The Russians made it legal in the early 1900's and it destroyed their culture within fifteen years. The same way we see today: divorce, alimony, orphans, single moms.

In the end of that situation, Russia outlawed abortion and the problems went away - at least for awhile until recently when it was legalized again.

Just so you know abortion has been written about for literally thousands of years. It Is by no means a modern problem.

Yes there was definitely nothing else going on in Russia in the early 1900s. It was definitely abortion that had all of the change in their culture. You're trying to simplify complex cultural shifts into a single issue and it won't be convincing to anybody with even the most modest knowledge of History.

Hell it's even written about in the Old Testament. If you think a woman has been cheating on you then you take her to the temple and give her a poison. If she aborts it means she was unfaithful.
