Still the most impactful world event that happened in my lifetime, by far.
I hope it won't be topped (at least, by a negative event).
It's funny how this is kind of a generational divide now. I was at my alma mater for an alumni event a few months ago and where some of the people who are currently graduating remember some things about that day, none of the new students do.
Seems were the same age , I was born in May 1990 and to be honest at the time I had no real perspective on this event. Other than I noticed that older people were sad/freaked out. I mean I do remember what I was somewhat doing that day in the 5th grade vaguely but as far as overall perspective of the event, I didn't really have real perspective on it until 3-4 years later mostly because of the Afghanistan War and later Iraq.
Also RIP. Also always good to highlight the heroes of US Airlines Flight 93 who prevented their flight from reaching its destination which is believed to be the Capitol Building. A tragic day could have been significantly worse considering the fact either they would have reached their target or the US Military would have to to make a choice of taking down a plane they know has innocent civilians on it.
