Youre comparing accidental deaths by car to intentional damage by a gun user.

False. My question does not state a connection between accidental car deaths and intentional gun deaths. My question doesn't even mention guns AT ALL. It's simple, straightforward question.

The real question would be "how does automobile regostration prevent people from running down pedestrians"

The answer to that question is "it doesn't really"

Now, what's the answer to my question.

Why are accidental deaths by car relevant when we are talking about intentional gun deaths.

Spoiler, it isnt relevant.

ok, so

Does the fact that registration doesn't prevent deaths mean that registration isn't a good idea?

I think the question is more so that we have the 2nd Amendment which makes this altogether different than auto registration. Nowhere in our law does a citizen have a right to car ownership and to drive. It's very much a privilege.

If there were ever a fear that the government might use your registration to confiscate all the 4x4s, like there is with whole classes of firearms?
