So, it seems the Western world is headed one of two directions:

1- It all comes crashing down and we double-down on the old fashioned binary definition of gender

OR

2- The gender-fluid viewpoint gains traction. Eventually, the Sikh women who refuse to "touch a man" come to be as seen as less sympathetic.

Aspects of Islam are already looked down upon in the Western world for how they treat the genders unfairly. It's not hard to imagine a future (30 years from now) where we simply integrate the lack of trans-tolerance into our many gripes about their religion.

Honestly, taking stock of the direction things are heading now, #2 seems like a more likely outcome.
