In the long run, it's not about the number of people, it's about productivity and military power. The idea that high population growth makes a country or a people more powerful stems from a time when warfare and the economy still hinged on manpower. Not the case anymore.

The only place where fertility rates stand a chance of being a difference maker are immigrant communities within foreign countries.

I wasn't talking about military power. The original post is not specific on what the contest is. The idea that a religion alone will become a military power is contrived. But since we were playing games, I thought I'd bite.

In the OP when I say bases of operation, I mean muslim communities, multiple times in almost every country. Where muslims are concerned, their faith seems to be their army. At least from what I've seen.
