for about 40 years there was no faucet. we were employing day labor that would cross the border in buses that headed straight to the field. same went with hospitality work in many areas. then the combination of tightened border security clearance post 9-11 and the migrant country of origin shifting from Mexico to much further south ended that. and now if they want to work here they have to live here too. true for both situations, they can neither get back over nor is mexico their home.

You're confusing legal Hispanic citizens with illegals. Not every Hispanic in this country is some fresh-off-the-border tomato picker. Some of the most staunchly opposed people to illegal immigration are legal Hispanic citizens who either went through the legal process themselves or their predecessors did. A huge chunk of the Border Patrol consists of these people; in fact, I think the BP might be majority Hispanic along the southern border (but don't let that get in the way of those who repeatedly say only racist whites care about immigration control). It's a constant slap in their face when foreign nationals are allowed to sneak into this country while our politicians, know-it-all celebrities, and MSM pander to them.

Actually, it's not that easy to become a BP agent, it's federal law enforcement. Only a small portion of applicants are qualified and approved after screening. They don't just accept any riffraff into the agency. The primary reasons why most are Hispanic, and it may or might not be majority, don't quote me on that, are the language and geographic barriers.



Most of the BP believe in what they're doing, for various reasons, but the common denominators are to help protect the border, uphold the laws, and help people in need. Under previous administrations, particularly Obama, they were sometimes held back with one arm behind their back. They did not like it and moral was low.

being bilingual it doesn't require a lot of education it's really not that hard to get in if you're clean and have a good work ethic and some dedication

not very different than working down at the jail or prison it's just a local job that pays well and of course they will support things in their line of work because they have financial interest not necessarily political

they may have tightened it up the last few years because of years and years of hiring incompetence in the past tho, get a lot of corruption down there
