lol, a month after he is elected president? Not even a qtr or half year to see how sales are affected. You think they wont lose sales for dumping the line?
Maybe they got scared by threatened boycotts, and it could have hit their demographics hard in "liberal" areas. But just the timing of the decision, lack of provided data, and location of headquarters for NOrdstroms leads me to think it was politically motivated.
Trust me, they lost business by doing what they did, perhaps more.. we will see.
They have month to month sales trackers you know. and Ivanka trended down. she's in a large market of other famous women who have lines of clothes that all look the same. add in politics and boom, bad for business. now sure some people might get their panties in a twist that they dropped Ivanka but that fades fast. What doesn't fade fast is a poorly selling clothing line taking up room on the rack for the next 4-8 years.
i have to laugh that you would come in counter on this issue, business and politics don't mix. plain and simple. when the trumps got into politics they understood that some of their brands would suffer. This is a combination of Trump protecting his daughter and them trying to save face on their brand, in no way is this a bad business decision for Nordstrom or any other supplier who is dropping her. shelf space is valuable, if you cut your potential buyers into a 70%, 60%, 50%, chunk you lose.
