Honestly idk how bad sexism is in the USA. I just assumed you guys would be where we are as one of the most advanced countries in the world. But I guess you are some 20 yrrs behind on female leaders.

Gender equity still has a long way to go in America. We have made a lot of progress on the issue dating back from the mid 19th century and the Seneca Falls Convention, but progress has more or less stalled since about the 1990s.

Wage disparities, sexual assault laws, domestic violence issues, maternity leave, and reproductive rights are among some of the issues that we are still fighting to improve.

Pretty sure women have all those things right? They do in every other developed western country.

Man... Hillary's big smile gives me the willies.

Her voice makes me want to jab an ice pick into my ear. I may not survive this presidency.

IDGAF.

I'll defend what I think is best for gender equity, even if it is (ironically) against some of the first female president's campaign rhetoric and tactics.

You really can't make some of this shit up. What a bizarre time in American politics.

I see no issue in striving for more.

For better or worse, I believe in American exceptionalism and hold my country to very high standards.

Being as good as other countries in the world isn't enough for me. But I don't even think we are quite there yet.

We have made a lot of progress on the gender front but still have a lot of work to do. Just like electing our first Black president didn't fix racial issues electing our first female president won't magically fix our gender issues.

Race issues are still very real.

But really, what gender issues? Numerically speaking.

So-so start but this thread is doomed to the low energy fate of the original thread.
