...good grief , is this another popular college age phrase being added to these discussions ? I was just getting use to safe-zones

Plus there's your lawn to consider, as I think someone using a phrase that's a decade or two old is almost certain to crush the begonias too. :(

"No-platforming" is a very legitimate term. It's just a descriptive term where people seek to prevent a speaker from having a platform to speak, predominately on college campuses.

It's not a leftist term like "safe-zones".

...why can't you just call it what it is , blatant censorship ...oh wait , I know ....because " no-platforming " sounds less dictatorial .

...unlike you I have not spent the last 15 years struggling to get a degree so I'm not really hip to the college scene like you are .

Uh, I do think no-platforming is censorship? It's just a specific type of censorship that applies predominately to platforms at college campuses? So it's called no-platforming?

Hey neat, finally, personal attacks that don't actually address anything that anyone's really talking about.

We get it, you're upset that there's a lot of stuff that you don't know.

This is utterly laughable. Refusing to give a platform for hateful people to say hateful shit is very different than censoring them.

...of course you don't ( unless the censorship is directed at one of your own interests , amirite ? )

My post was a reference to the trans discussion thread, where HC bent over backwards as an apologist for the trans milo who was calling everyone racist and transphobic in youtube videos, and HC was pretending it wasn't attention seeking behavior, etc.
Negative attention he got from the provocative videos was merely "not the kind he was seeking"

Now thats its a conservative speaker, Its a totally different story.
HC muses that Milo Y shouldn't expect anything different than thugs threatening him and shutting down his speaking events.

There's a few things to clarify here:

For starters, Milo Yiannopoulos is a self-described provocateur. He states himself that he is inflammatory and thus seeking attention. It's basically his career. That's very different than Milo Stewart who has never claimed such things, and is just living his life. People make assumptions about whether Milo Stewart is being sincere or if it's an act, but that's all it is: assumptions. In the case of Milo Yiannopoulos though, there is no assumption for histrionics, as he's admitting it himself.

Also, just because I recognize that Milo Yiannopoulos is a professional provocateur doesn't mean that I'm supportive of every single response he gets, of feel that he deserves anything that comes his way. I'm just saying it's disingenuous to play the part of the professional provocateur and then play the part of the victim in the aftermath.
