Well in a lot of countries , its just added to the public school system. Kids in USA could learn it easy if it was taught in public grade schools.

I've studied Spanish in 7th-12th grade and two semesters on college and I still can't speak it for shit, so don't feel bad.

I'm giving Spanish 2 a shot next Spring, only time I could fit it in. 17 credit hours that semester :(

It should be in the curriculum or at least a choice for parents, it isn't valued here much though.
