I have several close friends and family members that are fat or obese.

For someone to claim to have knowledge of science, I'm surprised you didn't know the main factor in obesity is poor diet and a lack of exercise. Genetics and metabolism have nothing on diet or exercise.

Recent studies have shown this to be incorrect, people who were obese during childhood have near zero success in weight loss in later life almost regardless of diet or exercise, the body adapts to that body size.

As you can see I am clearly obese. Which is very relevant

...that was assumed by your reaction but why does it bother you so much ? Surely being friends and family members you are able to see beyond any weight issues they have and still care for and love them . What is the underlying issue you have that is causing you to project your feelings onto an " anonymous to you " TV personality ?
