that would depend
if you are aware (and from the following you seem to be) of the potential danger posts by those dogs and handle them appropiately, then no
but the majority of owners of dangerous breeds will tell you that their dog is harmless and believe in it until the dog badly mauls someone
while i have met some responsible people which own a dangerous dog the majority certainly aren't
Yup lol. This.
I have seen people taking pitbulls out on leashes made from telephone cables. One time the dog saw a baby carriage and went berserk at it, broke the cable and nearly gave the new mother a heart attack.
People simply need to be more careful.
I live in Ontario right now and they've had a "pitbull ban" in effect for quite some time. They require pitties to be muzzled and leashed when taken out (leashes are mandatory for all dogs, but not everywhere).
I think that with a little bit of training/discipline and a good leash, it is quite easy to control these dogs.
Personally, I have loved owning several of them over the last decade and some (since 1999). They're really great guard dogs, but have a lot more bark than bite when trained properly (which is why it is also mandatory to attend certified training for the dog in Ontario).
