We have seen consequences for both cases in our past? "Murder” specifically means unlawful killing. You and I both can bring up many historical cases of unlawful killing followed by consequence. A person breaking into your home attempting to murder your family and fails at the event of a gunshot by your hands defending your family would not be you murdering another individual. Surely you know the difference between an unlawful elimination of a human life and the opposite.
