It's not appeasement, it's a peace treaty based on the outcome of the war. Appeasement would be if we'd given Putin everything he wants before earning it through conquest as he has. Doesn't matter how you feel about Putin, Russia has successfully occupied Ukraine's East and Ukraine doesn't have the ability to take it back.

The front lines have been stagnant for 3 years. The calculation is simple. Accept reasonable concessions now, or accept similar or worse concessions later while dying more. Pick your poison.
