Luckily my selfish interests as someone who does not want for Russia to expand align with my empathy to support the ukrainian people against the attack so I don't even have to choose.

It is also suspicious that Trumps policies perfectly align with russian interests. You all should find that suspicious too, honestly why don't you?

Trumps policies are aligned with the majority of Americans who voted him and gave this mandate. We need to stop framing the war from RU and Ukrainian perspective. My selfish interest as a US citizen is for US prosperity for our people. If that means better relations with RU and worse with dependant states EU, then it's a win for our people TBH.

Less resource spent defending those who won't do it themselves. Less resources spent on thwarting/containing a foe that has less impact to US than EU.

For now he has only helped Putin while grocery prices are still high and the stock market is crashing but time will tell.

Did you always think that US should be closer to Russia instead of european values or is that a new development resulting from Trump being weirdly pro Russia?

Generally, Yes and before the conflict. From the perspective of a poorer person, the cultural values are not much different than most of RU (Midwest US culture). We would get lots of RU students working summer jobs here for example on J1. EU values are less reconcilable depending on the member states.

More recently though, been pondering why so many Europeans left Europe and settled USA over the last centuries.

So why did you risk it all?

Ukraine was fine, the EU was fine, you had peace with Russia, trade, cheap energy, Nord Stream.

Everything blew up in your faces. Was it worth it?

It was Putin who invaded Ukraine, not the other way.
Putin wanted to rebuild USSR, possibly Warsaw Pact, also possibly take the whole Europe (we dont know what will Russians decide to do)

I can't speak for the last centuries but all the people I know that went to the US just made more money there.

The RU I know that immigrated to US did it for money and also opportunities for his family. Could never get him to talk about politics, maybe now though. He was surprised in the first of living change. More salary, more expense. Doesn't help that tech hubs are highly taxed jurisdictions to live in

Other one was Belarusian, def money motivated.

The thing is, the Russians were envious of the US. They would joke we all drive monster trucks, and St. Petersburg was copying the beer/burger crap that was popular a decade back.

Why not to attack Kazakhstan then? Why not to annex Georgia when he had a chance?

It is so sad. You really think that stoping sending weapons to Ukraine will stop the war and deaths ? Noo It will just make easier to kill Ukraininas by Russians. They will stop when the job is over. Full occupation. Russian border with your Allies. Nice job !
I don`t know where are all you guys from, but probably far away from Russia and you have no idea what Russia is. What Russia offer. I can tell you what they offer: death, poornes and dust. No more.
If you are from USA you are lucky ! Far away from problems, right ? How do you feel live under Mexico ?

Kaliningrad (Russia) already borders the West and is highly militarized

Why make a step by step chart of your thought disorders?
I disagree with all points except #2

Perfect response.

It's incredible that these very special people, with a capital helmet, have shifted from "Russia has already lost the war" to "Ukraine could never win, but if you don't continue throwing your money and weapons down the rabbit hole, you're responsible for Ukraine's inevitable loss."

Fuck Ukraine. Nobody gives a shit about them, they've brought this on themselves, and at this point, I'd love to see Russia refuse any peace negotiations until Asov is hunted down and killed to the last man for what they've spent the last 11 years doing to the people of the Donbas.
