Unfortunately our most visible provinces have elected wannabe Trumps who are fucking our healthcare up right now, too

But those two facts are not mutually exclusive.

Dealing with the opioid crisis isn't a border issue it's a health care issue (and a community issue etc)

This woke "solution" to the problem has been tried the last 10 years. It made the problem worse.

Stop clinging to failed ideologies and come back to reality. Dealing with the opioid crisis is a problem of not eliminating the supply and distribution.

There is some degree of corruption in any government and Trump isn't exempt from it. I just find it odd to lump Canada and Mexico together when the amount of fentanyl seized coming from Canada could fit in a backpack. Not sure the whole tariff ordeal went the way he expected it to go, abroad and at home.

Many coyotes have stated that as the mexican border is secured they move more operations to canada for both people and drug smuggling. so logically if we are strong arming mexico to help shore up the border we need canada involved as well. but as you correctly state more drugs head north to canada than head south, so canada is already on it. just typical trump bravado over diplomacy.

We do have a fentanyl crisis, mainly in the West, but that doesn't mean it "spilled" info the US. They have a crisis of their own, and it's not because of fentanyl shipped from Canada. About 20 times more fentanyl moves from the US to Canada than the other way around and ~500 more fentanyl comes from Mexico into the US. The fentanyl produced in Canada is mostly used in Canada, which is an entirely different problem, or it's shipped to Aus and NZ.

No one "folded" and no one said the US is inconsequential. Economically speaking both countries are important for each other, but it's your NATO argument we were talking about.

The NATO argument is legit. Anything the US has gotten involved in recently they didn’t really “NEED” NATO for. The US is easily the “Attack dog on a leash” for NATO and NATO members know it. What do you do to keep your dog from eating you? You feed it.

NATO tries to appease the US by allowing it to do as it pleases but when the US has a leader that says “Wait a minute we are nothing but the guard dog for this alliance and do we really NEED them” countries get pissed off.

Canada I can honestly say to my knowledge has at least sent troops or support anywhere the US has gone even if they didn’t agree with them as have a few others but not all of NATO are true allies trying their best to contribute.

I’ll say this for Canada as far as a military alliance I trust Canada more than any other NATO ally. I also believe Canadian leadership thinks if the US falls so does Canada. Despite differences both countries rely on eachother economically, militarily and for border security. Maybe “fold” was an offensive term. Let’s put it this way Canada came to the table before destruction happened because they realized this is important enough to the US that the US was willing to destroy that friendship and to save such a multiple front alliance it’s well worth investing a little more into the future stability of that friendship.

Lol there was no war on drugs. It was a fake media campaign while the corrupt government was waging a war on the people with drugs.

A real war on drugs = drug suppliers and distributors being summarily executed like in Chile
