Shays’ rebellion was not about government tyranny either, you just said as much. It was about debt recovery attempts.

I didn’t take anything out of context. Jefferson wanted to encourage the population’s ability to rise up in rebellion, even when unjustified, in order to warn possible future tyrants that they will not be tolerated. The background of the situation is immaterial, the willingness and ability to rebel is all that matters.

Until a couple days ago, you had no idea who this guy did. Nor did anyone else. He was just one unremarkable man living by fairly modest means for his circles. He was never the subject of controversy, he had never made any decisions anyone had cared about or opposed. He was not some firebrand crusader or cutthroat capitalist or anything other than a normal well adjusted person. He had his own personal problems and drama, estrangement from his wife and kids, his net worth was less than 50 million, and he kept a low profile and was not whatsoever a public figure or center of any story until he was murdered by someone who probably didn't give a shit who he was killing, so long as it was high level management at an insurer.

What we're talking about in this thread is the single most pernicious strain of disease that ever blighted humanity. It fueled the holocaust, it fueled the red terror and killing fields and october 7th. Its the demonization and dehumanization of some group of 'others' to the point an entire swathe of the population will actively cheer on acts of violence and butchery against people they've never met and never been given any real cause to hate. That's the kind of demented hatred embraced by the liberals of America today, and its not even specific in its aims. A random police officer gets gunned down in cold blood, who cares if the guy is a family man and hero who's run into burning buildings to save lives- social media and third rung pundits will erupt with applause for the murder, just because he's another fucking pig and deserved it. All anyone needed to know about Brian Thompson is the initials "CEO". When gunmen tried to slaughter a bunch of jewish kids in new jersey and wound up shooting up the kosher deli next door, a crowd of locals formed and said the jews had it coming. Not some organized hate group, not neo-nazis, just the random people who lived there.


Its not enough to just watch this demented hatred from a distance and reject it. It has to be actively pushed back against. People need to be challenged on why they would ever be part of a lynch mob and have no shame
