They're taking low skill jobs that youth and young adults want & need to attain experience & confidence in the workplace.

I worked at Wendy's for 3 years when I was younger. I would NOT have that same opportunity today.

Now it's MUCH harder for a teenager or young adult to get a job. And what happens to unemployed young adults with little prospects? They turn to drugs & crime.

The overall unemployment rate for youth (aged 15 to 24) rose 0.9 percentage points to 13.5% in June. This was the highest rate since September 2014, outside of 2020 and 2021 during the pandemic. On a year-over-year basis, the youth unemployment rate was up 2.1 percentage points in June 2024.
