They really should not be using 'software' based systems, but something 'immutable' at all abstraction layers. The way the law I've read reads the verification is done upon adoption, so if the product is not immutable then verification undermined.

Also, id argue open source systems are more secure than proprietary, and you'd think this would be a great use case or fit for open source. Reality shows the leadership rather have levers behind the facade of their trusted voting machines.

They should go back to hand written ballots, stuffed in a box guarded by Marines.

But voters should be required to sign them... with a thumbprint.
