Awful when they happen? Absolutely. But chances of dying in a school shooting are incredibly low and it's extremely rare. Much bigger issues to focus on causing a LOT more deaths in the U.S.

Gun crimes go unreported in Chicago for a reason (snitches get stitches) and because they stopped using the "Gun fire detection system" because it was "racist ai software" because 90% of all shootings were happening in predominantly black neighborhoods.

My guess is probably 100+ DEAD/wounded in Chicago from "gun crime" in-between any major US shooting but because it happens everyday there's no way to "hype it" the way they use "school shootings".
