The judge covered what he said and why it was excluded. Rittenhouse was shooting the shit with a friend and made a dumb comment. The video evidence showed us everything we need to know. Rittenhouse fled from the mob because he was a scared underage kid, he was pursued and violently attacked, and he defended himself with lethal force. People don't like Rittenhouse, which is understandable, but they go on to demand that a child be thrown in prison for life when there's no underlying crime.

Its not just shooting the shit with a friend when a week later you get the ar you were talking about then go shoot people with it..
If i said "i want to go rob a bank" to a friend then rock up at a bank with a shotgun a week later its the same thing.

In this situation it's more akin to saying "I'd shoot a bank robber" and then a bank robber attacks you as he's fleeing a bank.

I could see it being relevant in a world where we didn't have video evidence of the night in question. We see Rittenhouse fleeing the mob like the scared little kid he truly was, and to rationalize murder as a charge we have to assume that Rittenhouse was obligated to allow himself to be physically attacked. The moral of the story is that when you play stupid games you win stupid prizes. Don't attack people, especially when they're clearly and openly armed.
