i have been for the first time in my life slightly above average weight and ngl, i cannot fathom how overweight people live. its extremely taxing on the body, at least it has been for me (and im only like 20 pounds over lol)
i think the subject has alot more to do with self esteem than it does accepting unhealthy lifestyles. i dont think someone should be chastised if they are fat and trying to lose the weight and be healthier, i do think the whole fat is beautiful thing is (while not nearly as toxic as the stick thin body craze) kinda toxic
as much as i love the unhealthy lifestyle i started to live eating junk, because lets be real eating junk can just feel good sometimes, i think that america needs to put harsher restrictions on the fast food industry and make it significantly harder for social programs to award people junk food
side note, yes i am cutting back on the amount of food im eating, being more active etc, prolly half a year ill be healthy weight again
I'd say most people greatly support those who are overweight and are making real efforts to lose weight, be it in diet or at the gym. Average fit gym goers highly respect obese/overweight people putting in the effort at the gym.
The fat is beautiful is far more toxic than a thin craze due to obesity being a far larger epidemic than anything related to malnutrition or low body fat in the united states.
Everyone benefits if people are of healthy weight, society's tax burden greatly reduces, people's mental and physical health dramatically increases as well as the burden on the healthcare system diminishes tremendously.
Obesity is one of the greatest issues facing Americans today, with an equally important one being economic issues. It's really why I can't stand people like matt walsh who just talk nonstop about proportionally irrelevant trans issues while the significant issues most americans face such as obesity, housing, demographics, and economics get completely ignored. The purchasing power of your average american falls further and further while obesity numbers increase year by year, yet all that's focused on is trans x y z.
