So we had 58 years of unconstitutional legislation in conflict with an amendment. How did the weight of amendments become so weak and slow to reconcile with unconstitutional law? Just the nature of SCOTUS?

Many place blame on the court for this, but in reality y'all need to look back to 1868, those the people you need to blame for nasty 14th.

Legacy admissions are dumb, but they're the open choice of the school and drive a lot of fund raising. AA wasn't ever a choice of the institution at all. Not exactly apples to apples.

Clarence Thomas was a highly qualified applicant and exemplar student who then graduated to find out that all the law firms hiring dismissed him out of hand because they reflexively assumed that any black man who made it into yale only did so because of affirmative action, and thus Thomas had to work twice as hard as his white colleagues to prove his worth thanks to the oh so enlightened attitudes of his liberal white colleagues. He's spent his entire life railing quite passionately about this exact subject and his personal animus on it, and this has been his day of reckoning;

“I learned the hard way that a law degree from Yale meant one thing for White graduates and another for blacks, no matter how much anyone denied it,” Thomas wrote. “As a symbol of my disillusionment, I peeled a fifteen-cent price sticker off a package of cigars and stuck it on the frame of my law degree to remind myself of the mistake I’d made by going to Yale.”

Thomas Sowell was a wise man who saw the world in the constricted view. He didn't Live in Fantasy, rather Reality.
