I don't understand why you think they are Zionist, or even aligned with some sort of global Jewish brotherhood. Jewish diaspora are spread out to many places. Even Ukrainian Jews all speak Russian because the Ukrainian language is historically a peasant's language with no high culture.

I disagree about the "fucked up" because without nationalists, especially in armed force, and in the situation of partial subduction they were against the russian mafosi system already, it would have be pretty hard; you don't win such fights with "politically moderated" soldiers.
They used nationalists groupes very certainly but using far right is globally a distraction for those supporting Putin's invasion. Btw if you read the wiki about it... These groups have been largely dismantled.
