what we should do about it is a very difficult question.

I'm not in favour of censorship of "hate speech" because it always leads to persecution (where "hate speech" becomes "speech that you hate")

To be honest a little bit more gun control is a decent solution in cases like this, assuming that the murderer legally acquired their weapons (most likely)

I'm Canadian and our system is not too bad where you have to pass a background check & go through a licensing and training process, evaluation of prior offences etc

considering that you have trans people openly calling these laws "Genocide" and "the same as Adolf Hitler", I think its sadly a strong possibility

I do think that the bills are abhorrent, as they specifically (but cleverly) attack transgender people. Still, such behavior is abhorrent too.

there was that mass shooting in a bar committed by a transgender person not too long ago, not a school shooting though

If you weren't so deep in the propaganda, you would know that most mass shootings are carried out with pistols, of which this shooter also used.

there was the one where a straight gunman killed his trans sister, apparently by accident, while committing that mass shooting targeting a bar. Same day as another more high profile mass shooting. Was always one of the odder stories, since it was never truly identified what the motive was, and the gunman may have had no idea he was killing his own sister-turned-brother because he didn't know about the transition and it was a poorly lit hallway. Another downside of being trans. But at least debt collectors have a harder time finding you

Club Q mass shooter was trans (not a school), the STEM school shooter in colorado was FtM trans and targeting straight kids, that one was a school shooting (and I think they bias the statistics by counting that as a male shooter). Wasn't the denver shooter a few days ago also trans, or did I get that wrong? A few other non-school ones like "Snochia Moseley". But I think it has to be stressed just how rare the columbine knockoff school shootings are throughout american history. Every few years on average, when the media wants you to think its every few days

but the actual commonplace one is random kids being killed in gang violence. There was a documentary for showtime about high school football in north minneapolis that profiled multiple players this year, and so far one of them (DeShaun Hill Jr) was shot and killed by a random guy who mistook him for a thief who had stolen his cellphone earlier that day, and another (cashmere hamilton-grunau) was shot multiple times in the legs and survived just a few days ago. A car pulls up to him and his friends walking back from school, rolls down the windows and asks them if they were in a gang, they say no, gunmen in the car shoot them up.



Its just a matter of newsworthiness I guess. Media is going to jump on any columbine-style terror attack before they have the facts straight and they'll be hard pressed to memory hole this now that it turns out its a tranny targeting christian kids, with a manifesto and all. But when black people shoot black people?

Is perhaps the increased space that an incident like this takes up is in-part because it is an atypical act of violence.?
