https://i.imgur.com/7ZPDLZr.pngThe United States of America is not a democracy. It is a republic with unalienable rights that can not be voted away by the majority.
the terms democracy and republic aren't mutually exclusive, lol. republic is a form of organising government, democracy a possible source of power.
guess what, the vast majority of so called "democracies" are, in fact, not DIRECT democracies, but organised in some form of REPRESENTATIVE democracy - like a presidential or parliamentary REPUBLIC for example. the US most definitely pretend to be a DEMOCRACY (as in the power is derived from "the people") on paper.
in reality, of course, it is an oligarchy, but that's a different discussion.
the "iT's a rEpUbLiC, nOt a dEmOcRaCy" talking point, which unsurprisingly became popular with a majority of republicans who opposed black voting rights, is about as meaningful as saying "lebron isn't an athlete, he's a basketball player".
also, you might wanna check where the "this is extremely dangerous to our democracy" NPC meme originates from, because it's a mockery of right wing propaganda trying to push trump's attack on critical journalism in the most ironically NPC way possible:
