Fortunately his political ambitions line up with the interests of the working class more than Republicans. I mean, you're wrong, but even if you were right he'd still be the better choice.

i am strangely curious as to how this guy actually lives his life beyond the computer screen. people cant be that dumb.

The purge included "...veteran officials who served under both parties." The notion that these officials are somehow far-right extremists doesn't hold up remotely to scrutiny.

It is concerning because it has no precedent and violates norms which even Trump managed to respect.

Trump respecting a norm doesn't mean much tbh. It likely means that he just didn't get involved because most of the things that he touched turned to shit. Having said that, I'm really not a fan of big changes like that unless there's a good reason. If Mayorkas wants to reform the HSAC, that's fine, but the plan should have been in place prior to firing everyone.

Did you not read my post? I specifically cited the article as saying there were Republicans with a history of working with both parties.

Not all of them are Trump loyalists that got fired. I expect the number is higher because many of them were Trump loyalists, so you have the normal turnover from a new administration, plus the Trump loyalists, and the latter group makes the number higher than is typical.

Trump filled these institutions with hard-liners. He did not respect norms just because he didn't fire people. By all accounts, Trump didn't grasp or care about the importance of these kinds of institutions in the slightest. He spent most of his presidency actively ignoring them. And so he basically just filled them with sycophants when an opening happened, and called it a day.

Depends what he does next on whether this actually breaks the norms in a bad way.

Imagine having given Trump the same tremendous degree of benefit of the doubt that you're willing to grant Biden here...

Almost like your past actions impact how much people trust you.

Are you even listening to yourself?

You're bending over backwards to turn milque toast Biden into a dictator and its coming off as really pathetic cultist level delusion

Biden could be reorganizing the council, could be trying to appoint his own goons, could be trying to appoint a bipartisan group of fresh members, or anything else. It's not a normal move but its not inherently destructive and Biden has a history of being moderate so I'm not going to assume his intentions.

Why on earth would he do that? Biden is a known quantity having served 8 years as VP and 6 Senate terms. Trump was a wildcard and he never learned to effectively govern. What a nonsensical position..

Tldr: Biden is an unideological opportunist who has always gone where his party was heading - and in recent years, the Democratic party has lost its fucking mind. That's why I'm worried and not willing to give Biden the benefit of the doubt. He's an empty vessel, now in his proto-senile state more than ever.

I'm not afraid of Biden turning into a radical out of his own volition - I'm afraid of him not being willing or strong enough to stand up to the radicals around him.

The Republicans have gone much further to the right than Democrats and I don't really see you complaining about that. Yes, certain segments of the Democratic party lost their mind but they are incapable of succeeding in our government. The Democrats will be LUCKY to get a $15 minimum wage passed. As someone who leans right, it's going to take A LOT more people like AOC before I become concerned.

lol @ the bold
You're consuming WAY too much right wing media and it's not healthy. Don't rile yourself up for the sake of being angry/afraid.

right wing media is inconsequential now. Faux is pro-lefty/swamp, Rush passed away, Tucker and Hannity love being the opposition since it helps their ratings, and the little righty media outlets have no way to ask questions in the one press conference that has happened, etc.

speaking of the lone press conference so far, no amount of ridiculously biasrd right-wing rhetoric can overstate how much of a joke that whole event was.
