Wage theft isn't "I deserve $15/hour to work at McDonald's". It's "the minimum wage is $X, but you're paying me $X minus $Y". It's "You're classifying me as an independent contractor instead of a W-2 employee so you don't have to pay benefits". It's "you're paying me normal rate for OT work" (and this is easily quantifiable by looking at pay statements). It's "unauthorized deductions from my paycheck" (which is also easily quantifiable via pay statements).

The contemporary Democratic party feels nothing but deep disdain for rural and/or socially conservative people, for their values and their way of life. Similar story with Obama's "they get bitter and cling to their guns and religion"-comment.
