favoritism is a bit hard to confirm.
i certainly fear black widow spiders a lot more than mosquitos, but no black widows are around to bite me. if a truck of bananas come up from panama loaded with them tho i'll grab my flamethrower, rather than swatting them like skeeters.
i think overall even israeli right wingers would love a 2 state solution, it gets a LOT of costs off the books. they just see it as a bridge too far with WB currently, and certainly a bridge way to far with gaza, untenable even.
Eh not as hard as you think
I can pull up over a dozen articles in Israeli papers over the last few years and over a hundred over the last decade on how Netanyahu’s government directly and indirectly propped up Hamas.
I disagree quite a bit with the notion that Israel Gov pre October 7th was acting favorably toward a 2 state solution, despite most of the Israeli population being in favor of this. And despite their public stance being this. If this was the case the rational move would be to friend the moderate Palestinian representation, not antagonize them and prop up the extremist representation.
It’s really essential to think of gaza and wb as different entities in these conversations, and in all honesty they are.
