What kind of animal abuse are you up to?
I want to be specific, but since we're the only lab that habitually deals with the drug in question I can't or I'll be doxing myself. Great thing about working with rare cancer is it's interesting. The bad thing is that if you mention you're working with it you've suddenly narrowed the pool down to about 500 people who have ever published in that field.
We work with drug X
Drug X is an enzyme that breaks down amino acid Y that cells need to live. Most normal cells have the enzyme to produce Y, but cancer cells of this type shut it off. So if we give patients drug X and their cancer has shut off that enzyme it greatly assists with their chemo without significant toxic side effects.
We are looking into why drug X doesn't kill cancer on its own, but makes other cancer cells more likely to die with other forms of chemo.
So you graft human tumor cells into immunodeficient mice, and then split them into 4 groups. Control, Drug X, Drug Z, and Drug X +Z. Then you see if drug X + Z group shrinks the tumor more, and if it does you can use drug Z or analogues for drug Z to develop more targeted methods for chemo.
And it sucks, because if you are doing a mouse experiment you have to measure their tumors every single day, and give them treatment every day.

Why do you hate mornings?
Trying to figure that out. I found out about 6 months ago that I have hypoglycemia, and I used to skip breakfast, so that might be why I've hated mornings up until now. I'm still experimenting on how my blood sugar levels work at different times of day and with what foods and with what schedule.
